Brandy Adams, RN

Clinical Administrator

Brandy started her nursing career six years ago at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan as a cardiac nurse. During her career as a cardiac nurse, Brandy provided care to patients with congestive heart failure, COPD, open heart surgeries, myocardial infarctions and arrhythmias.

After three years at in a hospital setting, Brandy pursued her interest in Home Health as a case manager. Using the knowledge she obtained from bed side nursing, she educated patients on their medications and multiple diagnoses with the goal that the patients could function on an independent basis at home.

Embarking on an opportunity to work at one of the leading hospitals, Brandy took a position at the University of Michigan on the medical cardiac floor. At University of Michigan, she had the opportunity to work with patients with pulmonary hypertension, one of the only hospitals nationwide to treat this diagnosis.

Having worked with an immensely diverse patient population in a clinical setting, Brandy experienced firsthand the destructive nature of chronic disease. The most potent of these diseases, lung disease, is the number 3 killer in America. There are 2,116,000 reported cases in Illinois, causing an economic impact of $56.1 billion. Even with these surprising numbers, people with lung disease are under-served and undereducated. Brandy has taken this as a personal affront and challenge and accepted a position at SelectCare Health to educate patients, healthcare workers, and physicians about methods to manage and cope with lung disease rather than treat it at the hospital level. Research shows that a patient who has completed a pulmonary rehabilitation program that includes cycling, walking, and strength training showed an improved quality of life 18 months after finishing the program. Her goal is to reach out to the community and educate about Lung disease and the benefits of pulmonary rehabilitation.

Brandy graduated with an Associates Degree in Science from Kalamazoo Valley Community College and is a Registered Nurse in the states of Michigan and Illinois.
